UAP Diliman Holds GMM

The UAP Diliman Chapter held its June General Membership Meeting at the newly-opened Café Breton in Trinoma. Outgoing Chapter President Malu Marquez-Gutierrez presided over the GMM, which was sponsored by Bostik and Firefly.

In her farewell article published in the June 2007 issue of Liwanagan sa Diliman, Architect Gutierrez described her two-year tour of duty as “a wonderful experience. I see it as a year – of time not well spent, but well invested, that I hope leaves benefits for the next generations of Architects of the Diliman Chapter.”

She adds that her “wish is to see more members coming back to the GMMs and sharing their valuable inputs to solutions of the challenges in the practice. It is in this participative membership that Diliman should exist, that we might be the voice of what is right, and light to the ones who seek what is good.

Among the most notable accomplishments of the Chapter for the fiscal year is the “Save a Schoolhouse” program – an outreach project where the Chapter helped in the repairs of the Digmala (Nueva Ecija) Elementary School, which was completed in January 2007. This endeavor earned the Chapter the “Area A Award for Best Civic Involvement Project”. (The second schoolhouse project, in Ariendo, Nueva Ecija was completed in March 2007.)

The members of Architect Gutierrez’s Board are Architects Minerva Rosel (VP Planning), Markel Luna (VP Operations), Ma. Arabella Sotto (Secretary), Abigail Gutierrez (Treasurer), Arch Ong (Auditor), Florencio Sebastian (Business Development), Gabriel Mananghaya (Direcotr for Professional Education), Patricia Puyat (Director for Membership), Chiqui Tronco (Director for Sports), Brian Regalado (Director for Secretariat).
