It was a steadfast success for the recently concluded PHILCONSTRUCT 2004, the 14th Philippine International Construction Equipment & Building Materials Exhibition and Technology Forum, which was held last November 18 to 21 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila and the Philippine Trade Training Center. The event featured the latest technological breakthroughs in structural and architectural components, landscaping products, interior finishing, appliances and fixtures for industrial, commercial and residential projects. The show incorporated MODERN HOME EXPO 2004, a showcase of the latest and most advanced technology and products that can be used for homes, offices and buildings.

“There were 258 satisfied exhibitors that participated in this massive event. In four days, PHILCONSTRUCT 2004 attracted over 30,000 registered trade buyers and visitors and served as a convenient platform for the industry professionals to exchange the latest breakthroughs, design and developments. Everyone from the industry including architects, designers, contractors, engineers, specifiers, home owners and many more were at the show.” said Jorge A. Consunji, 1st Vice President and Chairman for PHILCONSTRUCT 2004.

In the recent Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) directors meeting, event manager, Global-Link Business Communications (Phils.) Inc., reported that 91% of the exhibitors were able to meet their objectives at the show, 88% were able to reach their target market, 96% were satisfied with the visitor profile, 97% were able to meet new contacts, 61% were able to conclude sales at the show and 95% of the exhibitors have expressed their interest to be back in PHILCONSTRUCT 2005.

PHILCONSTRUCT is owned and organized by PCA, the country's oldest trade organization. Founded in November 1945 to promote professional services for the construction industry, PCA now has over 1,500 members nationwide who are responsible for over 85% of all the government and private projects in the country today.

Coinciding Activities

All of the activities, including the technical seminars, business forums, fashion show and product presentations held in the event were well attended. PCA, in cooperation with the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID), came up with the first ever inter-school interior design competition entitled “Estilo De Vida” meaning “Modern Living For Less” which was participated in by top-notch schools and universities. The top four finalists featured the most modern, stylish and creative home design that would appeal to a young couple aged 25-40 with one child aged 1-10 years old.

Coinciding with the exhibition was the holding of TECHNOFORUM 2004 from November 18-19, 2004 at the Philippine Trade & Training Center (PTTC). There were 14 selected sessions presented which tackled specific needs of the Filipino construction companies for the purpose of technological advancement and global competitiveness. Not surprisingly, all of the forums were completely booked. The seminar rooms were brimming with various attendees.

“After spending over 5 million pesos in visitor promotions through mass mailing, print ads TV exposures, radio ads and other means, we achieved our goal of organizing the most victorious PHILCONSTRUCT ever. Our commitment to our exhibitors, partner associations/organizations and sponsors, namely: Boysen Paint, Charter Chemicals (Davies), Cemex, LaFarge Cement and Union Cement have been fulfilled.” added Consunji.
