The United of the Architects hosted the Tripartite Network Meeting and the CODHASP Business Meeting on April 21, 2010 at the UAP National Headquarters in Quezon City.

The TPN – comprised of the UAP, the PRC Board of Architecture, and the CODHASP (Council of Deans and Heads of Architectural Schools of the Philippines)/CHEd (Commission on Higher Education) focused on advancing the profession to a meritorious legacy by improving qualifications and board examination standards.

The initial effects of the “non-drafting” board examinations were also discussed, as well as the differences and emphasis of each subject tackled in the licensure exams.

The CODHASP Business Meeting discussed topics concerning academic competencies of the different architectural schools in the Philippines.

Guest speaker Arch. Joseph Palafox of the UAP California 116 Chapter shared his experiences as a Filipino architect working overseas, particularly his stints in neighboring Asian countries and in the United States of America. He also talked on the licensure or registration procedures in California, where he is a Commissioner of the Architects’ Supplemental Examination (Oral Exams).

The UAP also hosted the ARCASIA Office Bearers’ Meeting and the ARCASIA Committee on Professional Practice (ACPP) Meeting on April 21, 2010.

Issues tackled included the distribution of ARCASIA history books, amendments and revisions of the ARCASIA By Laws along with the guidelines on membership concerning parties interested on becoming members of the ARCASIA, as well as solutions to problems regarding the sending of students to the ACA – 14 and the 37th ARCASIA Council Meeting which will be held on October 25 – 30, 2010 in Lahore.
