UAP Diliman Christmas GMM

The United Architects of the Philippines – Diliman Chapter held its Christmas GMM on December 11, 2008 at the Serendra Sales Pavilion in Fort Bonifacio Global City.

The Chapter’s expanded Outreach Program – the construction of schoolrooms and the Shelter Assistance Project – were launched during the GMM.

For the past couple of years, the Chapter has helped in the rehabilitation of schoolrooms, as well as the construction of new ones. The next project will be in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija. This is a joint undertaking with the 702nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army and the local government of the municipality.

The Shelter Assistance Project, which will be in partnership with TAO-Pilipinas, Inc., Food for the Hungry - Philippines and the local government of Rodriguez, Rizal is an effort to provide shelter for the needy. The initial beneficiaries are thirteen (13) families whose houses were damaged by typhoon Frank.

It was also announced that the Chapter will take part in the Christmas gift-giving at the Damas de Assosacion De Filipinas in Paco, Manila. This activity, to be held on December 23, is spearheaded by the District A4 Council headed by District Director Bong Regala of the UAP Elliptical Chapter.

Former Chapter President Danny Silvestre, currently the dean of the UP College of Architecture invited the alumni of the college to participate in the UP Lantern Parade, which will be held on December 17. A Christmas Party is also scheduled at the College of Architecture after the Lantern Parade.

Chapter President Minnie Rosel announced that Chapter Members Eia Sotto and Chris Layusa placed third in a monument design competition for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. The competition was sponsored by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The night ended with a raffle. All attendees received their loot bags which contained gifts from Boysen, Akari, Crown Pipes, HCG, and Le Masseuse.
