1st UP Architecture Invitational Badminton Tournament

The University of the Philippines College of Architecture Alumni Foundation, Inc. (UPCAAFI) held the 1st UP Architecture Invitational Badminton Tournament on March 1, 2008 at the Centro Atletico Courts in Quezon City.

A total of eighty (80) players joined the tournament, which was supported by Boysen Paints, Matimco Wood Products, Unitec Pipes, Emerald Pipes, Arkishop, HCG, Spurway Enterprises, among others.

Arch. Arman Tantoco, Chairperson of the 2008 Alumni Homecoming Committee and UPCAAFI Board Member Arch. Armin Sarthou attended the Opening Ceremonies, while Arch. Danny Silvestre, dean of the UP College of Architecture graced the Awarding Ceremonies.

The winners are:

Level 1 Champion – Dennis Pe and Richard Tan
Level 1 Runner-up – Noel Dianzon and Jefferson Yao

Level 2 Champion – Seth Herrera and Jason Jamias
Level 2 Runner-up – Pankoy Santaromana and Emman Quimson

Level 3 Champion – Pam Agabin and Consul Lomboy
Level 3 Runner-up – Jun Bulaong and Armin Pamintuan

Level 4 Champion – Aleck Africa and Pancho Villanueva
Level 4 Runner-up – Amy dela Paz and Joy de Asis

Level 5 Champion – Vic Quevedo and Mona San Gabriel
Level 5 Runner-up – Lora Rivera and Papit Carlos

Pankoy Santaromana and Amy dela Paz headed the organizing committee for the badminton tournament, which will be followed by golf and bowling tournaments scheduled for April and August, respectively.

Quarterly lectures, a tree planting in July, painting sessions, an art exhibit and auction, and a grand fundraising raffle in September round out the activities of the UPCAAFI and the UP College of Architecture for the Centennial Celebrations of the University of the Philippines System.

The alumni homecoming, with theme “Arkiteknika: I’m Wired with a Green Mind” will be held on March 7, 2008 at Building 1 of the UP College of Architecture Complex
